The next generation bible study toolset for all Christians worldwide
Purpose of the NeXtBible:
Develop the next generation Bible Study Toolset that can harness and organize biblical material for the user. This material may be from: your personal library, a cooperative Christian websites or the Internet in general
Vision:Make ToolSet available to millions of users worldwide excellent biblical content
Make available to millions of users worldwide excellent biblical content and the latest scholarship organized with the latest tools.
Problem:
Most the latest biblical scholarship is not available for free as it is often restricted behind copyrights and expensive licenses. One has to wait on the order of 70 years before a work passes into the public domain and is available for free. This fact is one of the main reasons that large amounts of material remains locked up in very expensive bible study programs. Bible.org and many others would like to change this marketplace reality and provide a mechanism for authors and owners of good biblical content to provide the material for free or for a reasonable fee that would allow the author to be paid for his efforts while making the content available to millions of users worldwide.
Proposal:
Begin a community driven NeXtBible project that has the Purpose/Vision above and is able to become the principal bible study toolset for millions of users so that it can literally become a force in the marketplace.
- (When the NeXtBible becomes recognized in the marketplace it should be able to go to owners of copyright material and encourage them to donate it to the project and if the author is not able to donate it, the project should have the finances to buy rights to the material for the NeXtBible project.)
Plan: Begin to execute the proposal and invite community involvement
- Phase 1 2006- Bible.org to begin the NeXtBible study framework and put it on the web to validate that it can begin the accomplish the purpose statement above
- Results: Users have responded in an overwhelming manor that the approach can meet the purpose statement get experience and Traffic is consistently over a million hits a month
- Phase 2 (2007)-Expand the project By:
- Inviting organizations, and individuals to join the NeXtBible project team to help plan and finance further development of this next generation Bible Study Toolset and the acquisition of quality & modern content
- Status: To further the purpose and vision of the NeXtBible Team. Bible.org has made available for download the NETBible and the content on its site consistent with its www.bible.org/copyright statement
- To help build finances for the NeXtBible project bible.org has set up a special fund for donations designated for NeXtBible and it has allocated a portion of all the monies spent at the www.bible.org/store that originate from a NeXtBible page.
- Specifically how can you help?
- Volunteer: If you agree with the goal to develop a free/affordable world class bible study toolset and you can volunteer time to be on the project team email David Austin the project manager at http://www.bible.org/email_author.php?author_id=95
- Donate to the NeXtBible project by clicking on this link http://www.bible.org/donation and indicating it is for the NeXtBible project
- Contribute Material: If you have material on your site that you are willing to share or allow people download or you own good biblical study material we are in the process of setting up a library so with access rules that will support you in your ministry. We are also working on a search BOT that will add your material to the discovery box.
- Purchase material from bible.org store : By purchasing your NETBible and audio NETBible and other material from http://store.bible.org/ The store can track the page you come from so when you are on a NeXtBible page and you go to the store and buy something a part of that sale will be transferred into the NeXtBible project fund.

Web Master tools, Documentation and feature development wiki for NeXtBible Projects.
This Wiki is being setup to support Web Masters who want to add the NeXtBible tool set to their sites. It is also set up to support volunteers who want to assist in the development process of the NeXtBible Bible Study Tools Project. Rules of engagement-
1- The initial Wiki will be wide open for anyone to add/edit and improve the site, Hopefully we will not attract too much spam content or defacing. If you find it please feel free to edit it out. If we have trouble we will be force to make posts go through an approval cycle. Lets pray that we will not need this.

3- the project manage is not an expert on wiki's and is looking for a person to take over the oversight of this wiki and to encourage and interact with anyone needing help or guidance.

If you would like to help me test the webmaster tools, I invite you to become an alpha website webmasters tester.
